Ollie lost his ring while feeding out horses hay at their stables, he heard it ricochet of the shed, we searched the mud outside to no avail and so decided to check inside the stables, about the third signal there she was pressed into the dirt. Ollie can now relinquish sleeping on the couch =)

Late Friday afternoon, I received a phone call about a woman who had lost a ring. She had lost her late nana’s ring, the one piece that held her most precious memories. It wasn’t just a piece of jewellery; it was a reminder of love, laughter, and all the moments they’d shared. After speaking with them, I gathered as much information as I could about where it might have been lost. The only challenge was that the area was thick with bushes and uneven ground, not the easiest spot to search. But with the right equipment and a bit of determination, I got to work. Within just ten minutes, and on the third target, my detector gave that unmistakable sound and there it was, a beautiful ring glinting softly beneath the leaves. Although I didn’t get to hand the ring back to her personally, as she had already left for work, her friend arrived soon after to collect it. I can only imagine the moment she saw it again, that smile must’ve stretched from ear to ear. A small act, but one that meant the world. And that’s why I love what I do.

I headed out for another lost ring recovery… only to find out this one wasn’t sitting nicely under the sand — it had been lost in the surf! After nearly two hours of searching, waist-deep in the water and getting knocked around by wave after wave, I finally got the signal I’d been hoping for. There it was! Definitely one of the toughest recoveries I’ve done yet, but seeing that ring come out of the water made every wave worth it. Another precious ring back where it belongs! I was contacted by Salina, whose daughter had sadly lost her Pandora bracelet while at the beach. Luckily, she had the exact location of where it might be. My son and I decided to head over for a quick look and to our surprise, we actually found it! Seeing how happy they were made the whole search worth it. Sometimes it’s the small wins that mean the most.

Varinder sadly lost his sentimental gold ring in a kiwi fruit orchard when it slipped from his pocket while pulling out his phone. It disappeared into long grass but luckily, he managed to narrow the search area down. About 10 minutes into the search, I heard that unmistakable sound on my detector. Still couldn’t see the ring, but out came the pinpointer… and there it was. Moments like this are exactly why I love what I do helping people like Varinder and his family recover something truly special. Until the next one… it’s never lost, just misplaced.

Juan has been amazing and so very helpful. He was able to find my ring which I had honestly thought was gone forever! I can’t begin to explain how grateful I am to you both for helping me in my search!! Juan came and found my engagement ring this evening at the beach. I lost it just as we were leaving the beach when I shook my blanket and it came off. I searched for 20 minutes with other people who were kind enough to help me when they saw me looking for something. It was very upsetting having to leave the beach without it. Thank you so much Juan for finding it so quickly and being prompt at meeting my partner at the beach to search for it. It was found in less than 30 seconds, amazing! I saw a post on our local community page about a woman who had lost her silver necklace while practicing nearby. Since I was already in the area, I thought… why not play detective for a bit? So there I was, searching like I’d dropped my own paycheck. A little hope, a little luck and there it was! Paddy called saying they'd lost an engagement ring with family history. One place it may have got lost is in a park in Stratford, could I help? Of course I said yes, that I could certainly come to look. I suggested that they lodge the ring as lost with the Police, and Paddy said they had already done that. Peter and I went down on Saturday, and by this time, the ring had been lost for four days! Finding it certainly wasn’t looking very promising considering it may have been lost in a public park for so long. I told Lesley to try and walk exactly where she had walked when she lost her ring. The search area was very large, which included around the sports field, gardens and walkways of which we ended up swinging our detectors for approximately 4.5km. On the last stretch of the walk, almost back to the car, we were in the playground area searching by the trees near the entrance, and Lesley, who had given up hope of finding her ring by now had wandered out of the park to the footpath. She turned around to wait for us to finish where we were searching when she happened to look down and spotted her ring just sitting there slightly covered in mud! What an awesome moment that was!

Briar and her partner were enjoying a lovely Boxing Day at Tapuae Beach (Taranaki, NZ) when a wave suddenly washed up and over where they were sitting. They quickly grabbed their things and moved further up the beach, and it was then that Briar realized that her gold necklace with 3 gold rings on it were now missing. She had earlier taken her necklace and rings off and carefully placed them in a sock for safe keeping - but the sock was now empty! After being contacted to help find a lost gold chain with 3 gold rings on it, Peter, my husband and I met up with Briar and her partner at the Tupuae Beach carpark. We then walked approximately a km along a track towards the beach when Briar suddenly let out a yell of pain. It just wasn't her day! She had just got her first ever bee sting. I scrapped the sting off the sole of her foot and we carried on to the beach. Peter and I started gridding the beach and it wasn't long before I heard the one and only target on the beach. I was pretty confident that it was the lost gold jewellery and with one scoop of sand carefully removed - it was all revealed.

In an area I’ve been to hundreds of times. And at least 15 other detectorists have also been to. And literally walked over many times. Myself included, this spot about 3m x 3m produced a lot of old silver coins over the years, at depths you wouldn’t believe, each target took over 10mins to dig out they were that deep. My 15inch coil has a huge advantage on depth. Deeper than any other metal detector it seems for everyone else to miss. I changed one setting on my metal detector. And it lit up all these new targets after I had thought the spot was cleaned out . Over a couple weeks I dug up 13 Gold rings. Worth $10k all 18ct. Plus 30 silver coins. All dated late 1800s to early 1900s this was a great honey hole. This sapphire ring was my favourite from the 13, that I found in this honey hole.
